Barney Costume
A favorite character for many kids is that lovable purple and green dinosaur Barney. Barney is a very cuddly looking Tyrannosaurus Rex that comes to life through the imagination of a child. BJ Child Costume
BJ is a great character who loves nothing more than playing baseball and eating pickles. He wears a red baseball cap and red sneakers. Baby Bop Toddler Costume
Baby Bob is the baby of the group and is BJ’s little sister. She carries a yellow blanket around singing the song “My Yellow Blankey” to show how much she loves it. Baby Bob’s favorite food is macaroni and cheese and pizza. She looks cute wearing her pink ballet slippers and a pink bow. She is a green dinosaur and this gorgeous green Baby Bop jumpsuit with attached foot covers with printed purple slippers and a purple tummy is adorable. Barney and Friends has been showing on television since 1992, thrilling young children with their fun, happy and optimistic outlook on life. Unfortunately this has been criticized because they do not reflect real life. However, kids love this show and it is still entertaining children with its upbeat and catchy songs.
Barney as mentioned is a Tyrannosaurus Rex. These amazing dinosaurs were one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs that lived about 85-65 million years ago. They are said to have measured about 40 feet long and between 15-20 feet tall. Amazingly they only had short arms; about 3 feet long, but had two powerful legs. Their feet were about 3.3 feet long and had a stride length of up to 12-15 feet and could run up to 15 mph. You wouldn’t want to be caught by one of these huge creatures because they had jaws up to 4 feet long and had 50 to 60 very thick bone-crunching teeth. Apparently one T. rex was found with teeth up to 13 inches long.
Barney’s friend B.J. is a Protoceratops which lived around 66 to 71 million years ago. They walked on four legs and had a large head, bulky body and a parrot-like beak and a small frill on their head. Because of this, they were relatively slow dinosaurs. The males of the species had larger frills than the females and this may have been used during courtship and mating. Protoceratops were about 6 – 8 feet tall and weighed about 900 lbs. Unlike the T. Rex, these dinosaurs were plant eaters.
Baby Bop is a Triceratops, also known as a “horrible three-horned face”. They had a large bony frill and three horns on their large four-legged body, not unlike a rhinoceros. They had an exceedingly large skull, up to 10 feet long and a body of about 30 feet long. Triceratops were also plant eaters.
Kids and some adults too seem to love dinosaurs and there have been some great movies starring dinosaurs. Some recommendations are Jurassic Park (1993), Ice Age (2002) and King Kong (2005) which features a great battle between Kong and three dinosaurs.
However, it is Barney and his friends that seem to keep young kids happy and the lovely purple and green dinosaur is lots of fun. If you love dinosaurs, then wearing a Barney costume for Halloween or any dress-up event will keep your kids smiling.
